Server Description
A dedicated AMD EPYC compute-optimized virtual server featuring thirty-two vCPUs and sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 memory for parallelized workloads.
Amazon Web Services c5a.8xlarge is a compute-optimized instance featuring 32 dedicated vCPUs and 16 physical cores powered by an AMD EPYC 7R32 processor running at 3.3 GHz. Built on the Nitro hypervisor, it includes 64.0 GB of DDR4 memory at 3 GHz, providing 2.0 GB of RAM per core, with no local storage or GPU accelerators. Network performance is anchored by a 10 Gbps baseline bandwidth. Benchmark results reveal a significant performance tradeoff: while single-core CPU performance is poor, ranking in the bottom 10%, multi-core CPU and memory bandwidth metrics consistently achieve average ratings, and PassMark memory performance is strong. This hardware profile is qualitatively cost-efficient for parallelized compute tasks. It is best suited for multi-threaded workloads such as software compilation, static web serving, and moderate database operations, while being poorly suited for single-threaded applications or large-scale LLM inference.
