Built on the Nitro hypervisor, it features 64.0 GB of memory and a bundled 5000 GB NVMe SSD for high-capacity local storage. The instance delivers strong memory performance, highlighted by a top-tier Passmark memory score and 189.45 GB/sec large-block read-only memory bandwidth. While general compute, database operations, and web serving benchmarks perform in the average range, cryptographic and certain LLM inference tasks show weaker relative performance. Given its high storage-to-vCPU and memory-to-vCPU ratios, the i8ge.2xlarge is qualitatively cost-efficient for data-dense environments. It is highly suited for storage-intensive workloads, relational and NoSQL databases, and caching applications requiring fast local NVMe storage.
