    Server Description

A high-bandwidth general-purpose instance combining 96 vCPUs, fast local NVMe storage, and 100 Gbps networking for demanding multi-threaded workloads.

    General PurposeStorage & Database

Amazon Web Services m5dn.24xlarge is a general-purpose instance designed for high-throughput workloads. Powered by the Nitro hypervisor, it features an Intel Xeon 8259CL processor with 96 vCPUs (48 physical cores) running at 3.1 GHz, paired with 384.0 GB of DDR4 memory. The instance includes 3600 GB of local NVMe SSD storage and a 100 Gbps baseline network interface. Benchmark results indicate a tradeoff between weak single-core execution and strong multi-core performance, with the instance scoring in the top 25% for multi-core stress-ng, Passmark CPU, and memory bandwidth tests. It also excels in Redis SET operations and static web serving. This hardware profile makes the m5dn.24xlarge qualitatively cost-effective for high-concurrency applications, distributed databases, and network-bound workloads, though it is less optimal for single-threaded tasks or intensive LLM text generation.

    2.84Score
Precomputed compound score for Cache Intensive workloads. A weighted average (geometric mean) of benchmark scores compared to their medians: score = ∏ (x_i / m_i)^(w_i / Σw). The score of 1.0 represents a synthetic baseline server with the median performance of each component benchmark; 0.5 means roughly half the performance; and 2.0 means twice the performance of that reference profile. Component weights: 50% Redis RPS (pipeline=1, SET), 20% Redis RPS (pipeline=16, SET), 10% PassMark Memory Mark (composite), 10% Memory bandwidth (read, 16 MB ~ L3), 10% PassMark single-thread CPU. Rationale for component selection: In-memory key-value store workload, mixing direct Redis performance metrics with memory speed and latency benchmarks, and single-core CPU performance profiles.
