Conference season 2026 is very much here, and we have a full calendar of events coming up. Earlier this year, we presented a talk on cloud cost efficiency metrics at a local DataScience meetup, then we spent three days at a hackathon with OVHcloud and Crayon/SoftwareOne in Paris, and next we are presenting and sponsoring at five conferences over the next few months, spread across Budapest (Hungary), London (United Kingdom), Warsaw (Poland), Houston (Texas, USA), and Falkenstein (Germany). Hope to see you there!
May 18-20: Budapest Data+AI Forum (Hungary) #
I have been attending (and often also giving a talk) at the Budapest Data+AI Forum for over 10 years now. This year we are taking it a step further by officially sponsoring the conference for the first time. It is a three-day hybrid event that happens both in Budapest and in the cloud -- both of which our team calls home 😊
June 5-7: PyData London 2026 (United Kingdom) #
We will be presenting a talk titled SELECT instance FROM cloud WHERE workload = ? ORDER BY cost_efficiency at PyData London 2026. The full abstract is available on the conference site. We are also sponsoring the conference and will have a booth on the main conference days with the team, so please come by to say hi, grab a hex sticker, or pick up a Metaflow tote bag (thanks to our friends at Outerbounds)! 🐍
July 6-9: useR! 2026 in Warsaw (Poland) #
We are also heading to useR! 2026 in Warsaw, where I will present a similar talk with a stronger R focus: cloud::servers[workload == R][order(cost_efficiency)][1, eval(task)], building on our work presented at useR! 2025 and the Resource Tracker project. We are sponsoring this event as well, so look out for the Spare Cores booth!
I'll also extend my stay for the R Dev Day on July 10, which is a full day workshop with R Core members and contributors from all over the world -- obviously focused on R. I'm supporting the Weblate server for the translation teams. 🌏
Sep 14-16: posit::conf(2026) in Houston, TX (USA) #
I last attended rstudio::conf(2020), so I am super excited to be back for the rebranded posit::conf(2026)! A lot has changed in six years on both sides -- looking forward to reconnecting with the community. We will present a lightning talk about how Spare Cores can help DS/ML/AI teams optimize their cloud compute resource allocations. 🚀
Sep 17: Hetzner Summit in Falkenstein (Germany) #
We also received an invitation to present at the Hetzner Summit, where we will share our cloud server benchmarking methodology and results. Honestly, doing a talk at a cloud provider's own event -- and right at the data center -- is a first for us and we are very excited about it! 🤖
We are looking forward to meeting you in person at one of these events! If you have any questions before the events, or want to meet up specifically, feel free to leave a note in the comments below, or reach out to us directly via our contact page.
If you can't make it to any of these, slides and video recordings (when available) will appear on our Talks page afterwards.
