Amazon Web Services r8gd.8xlarge is a memory-optimized, arm64-based server instance powered by 32 dedicated AWS Graviton ARMv9 Neoverse-V2 physical cores running at 2.8 GHz. It is equipped with 256 GB of RAM, 1900 GB of local NVMe SSD storage, and 15 Gbps baseline network bandwidth. Benchmarks show top-tier memory bandwidth, with large-block reads at 405.8 GB/sec, and exceptional database performance, including a top-tier Passmark database score and 68.24 million Redis SET operations per second. While multi-core CPU performance is strong, the instance exhibits weaker performance in LLM text generation tasks. Qualitatively, the custom ARM architecture and bundled high-speed local storage offer excellent cost efficiency for memory-bound and high-I/O workloads. It is highly recommended for relational databases, in-memory caching, and data-intensive applications.
