Server Description
A memory-optimized platform combining a 512 GB RAM footprint with 2400 GB of local NVMe storage for data-intensive workloads.
Amazon Web Services r5d.16xlarge is a memory-optimized instance featuring 64 vCPUs and 32 physical cores powered by an Intel Xeon 8259CL x86_64 processor running at 3.1 GHz. It is equipped with 512.0 GB of DDR4 RAM and 2400 GB of local NVMe SSD storage, operating on the Nitro hypervisor with a 20 Gbps baseline network speed. Benchmark results show a distinct tradeoff: single-core CPU performance and single-threaded compression tasks fall into the bottom 25%, while multi-core performance and database operations remain in the average tier. Notably, large-block memory bandwidth is strong, placing in the top 25% with read speeds of 209.41 GB/sec. This hardware profile is qualitatively cost-efficient for memory-intensive and storage-heavy workloads, making it suitable for database deployments, Redis caching, and multi-threaded data processing rather than single-threaded or compute-heavy tasks.
